Ischyja
gynnis Prout
Ischyja
gynnis Prout, 1928, Bull. Hill Mus. Witley,
2: 260.
Diagnosis.
The forewing facies is very similar to that of the previous two species, but the
hindwing has an evenly rounded margin rather than a rather angular one. The blue
band on the hindwing upperside is broad. The most distinctive feature is on the
underside, where the blue postmedial fasciae are broad and even, that of the
forewing twice the width of that of the hindwing, which is on average 2mm wide.
The Sumatran holotype has greenish suffusion extending from the medial loop on
the dorsum into the marginal area as in one specimen of subreducta.
Taxonomic
note. There are minor differences in male genitalia between the Bornean
male and the holotype: the uncus is slightly less robust; the apex of the
aedeagus and the central zone of the vesica have slightly different
ornamentation.
Geographical
range. Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat
preference. A single male collected on G. Kinabalu by Waterstradt, but
without precise data, represents the only record from Borneo.
