Diagnosis. The facies is distinctive, particularly the rather
violet-grey hindwing with a strong, straight, double but slightly irregular
submarginal running from the tornus to about M1 before angling obtusely to the
costa; the band just basad to this is paler. This rather regular hindwing
fasciation is somewhat similar to that of macariana,
though without the black. The discal spot has a pale fleck associated with it.
The forewing is similar to that of macariana, but lacks the two subapical white flecks (part of
the submarginal) of that species.
Taxonomic
note. The species has not been dissected.
Geographical
range. Borneo, Sumatra (HS / K).
Habitat
preference. Apart from material, including the holotype (UM, Oxford),
collected by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, the only other specimen seen is from dry
heath forest at Telisai (15m) in Brunei.
