Diagnosis. This species is somewhat similar to ablualis but is a greener brown, with more crenulate and sinuous postmedials. The white forewing reniform is more prominent and distinctly lunulate, and there is also a conspicuous orbicular. The male antennae are fasciculate and slightly serrate rather than bipectinate and conspicuously noded as in ablualis. The third segment of the labial palps bears a fan of black scales, though not as great as in A. scopigera Moore (see the next species).
Taxonomic note. The type material of the two taxa is conspecific, both specimens being collected in Borneo.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The holotype of alsusalis was taken by A.R. Wallace in the lowlands of Sarawak. Other old (including the type of cauxa) material is from G. Kinabalu and G. Marapok in Sabah and G. Dulit in Sarawak but lacks altitude data. The three specimens taken in recent surveys are from below 100m in forest at Semongok near Kuching, in the Ulu Belait of Brunei and in the Barito Ulu of central Kalimantan.
