Diagnosis. The facies is atypical of the generic complex, the forewings differing markedly from the hindwings, being a pale, dull yellow that grades browner at the distal margin. The forewing fasciation is also highly atypical, the antemedial and postmedial being indistinct, finely punctate, dark brown. The submarginal consists of a row of brown chevrons containing unequal patches of white distad. The hindwing fasciation is obscure, and the submarginal is uniformly curved, lacking the obtuse angling typical of this group of herminiines.
Taxonomic note.Anitha is placed as a synonym of Nodaria in Poole (1989) and Nielsen et al. (1996), but, despite the unusual facies, this species probably belongs in the Polypogon complex, the male abdomen showing some similarity to that of reticulatis, where the facies is also unusual (see above). The male foreleg has a sheath, but all tarsal segments are present and normal. The eighth segment is only weakly of the framed corematous type. The genitalia have the saccus acute. The valves are tongue-like, tapering with short saccular and costal processes, the latter extending beyond the former. The aedeagus vesica has several lobes, some coarse scobination basally and denser, finer scobination distally over two of the lobes. Females have not been located.
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference. Three specimens have been taken in recent surveys: from the understorey of secondary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah; from 250m in dipterocarp forest on the lower slopes of the limestone G. Api; from lower montane forest at 1000m on G. Mulu. Older material, including the type, is from the lowlands of Sarawak.
