Chusaris mulumaculata sp. n.

Chusaris mulumaculata
Figure 371

11-12mm. This is a very similar species to the previous one but larger, generally paler, more as in C. paucimaculata Hampson (Sri Lanka). The costal triangles are darker and better defined as in paucimaculata, but the most distal one is broader, due to the more oblique line of the submarginal to the costa. The discal black mark is accompanied by one distal black mark only as in paucimaculata, but lacks the orbicular spot of that species. The hindwing dorsum is more strongly marked. The male genitalia are closer to those of retataloides than those of paucimaculata. In the latter the uncus is larger, the valves are more evenly narrow and curved and the aedeagus vesica has a scobinate patch basally, the last absent from mulumaculata, where the valves are distinctly broader basally, and slightly flexed subapically. In both species there is a distinctive juxta like an inverted ‘V’ not seen in retataloides. The apodemes of the eighth tergite are much weaker in paucimaculata.
