Diagnosis. This and the next species, sabada Swinhoe, have males with the basal half of the forewing distinctly darker brown than the distal half, separated at a strong central boundary running through the discal mark. The brown is richer in mediobrunnea, and the submarginal is more evenly punctate when evident, but lacking the strong chevron-like arrangement at the costal end that characterises sabada. Females have generally paler forewings, with the darkened area basal to the medial boundary narrower than in the male, and with the area basal to the curved antemedial distinctly paler rather than only slightly so. The male antennae in both species are serrate, but the pectinations are narrower and twice as long in sabada.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is montane, recorded infrequently from 1200m to 1930m on G. Kinabalu, with single records at 1000m on G. Mulu and at 1670m on Bukit Pagon.
