Hypena group of genera
The next four genera are the only ones that can be attributed without qualms or qualification to the Hypeninae. The ones in the Mecistoptera group show features that are a mixture of herminiine and traditional hypenine ones as discussed on p. 160. Subsequent sections include genera traditionally placed in Hypeninae that share only a few features with the Hypena group, none of which is an incontrovertible synapomorphy. The features of the group are discussed below under the type genus, Hypena Schrank.
