Diehlea holophaea
Hampson
Carea holophaea Hampson, 1905, Ann. Mag.
nat. Hist. (7),
16: 595.
Carea hollowayi Kobes, 1983, Heterocera Sumatrana, 2: 5, syn. n.
Diehlea holophaea
Hampson & hollowayi Kobes; Kobes, 1997: 94, 95.
Diagnosis. Smaller than congeners, holophaea is distinguished by the
forewing postmedial meeting the dorsum at a point well basal to the tornus
rather than at the tornus.
Taxonomic note. Kobes (1997) suggested that hollowayi, based on
males, might be conspecific with holophaea, based on females. The taxa
are therefore brought into synonymy, as this marriage appears highly possible.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference.
Bornean material seen is restricted to a single
female collected in the 19th Century from Telong-Siong.
