Diagnosis. The forewing is diffusely fasciated with brown on a pinkish grey
ground. The submarginal row of dark dots is triarcuate, distinguishing the
species from Gelastocera
castanea
Butler (p. 177) where this row is more irregular and males have bipectinate
antennae.
Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference. The type material was taken by A.R. Wallace in Sarawak,
probably from the lowlands. Two specimens have been taken at below 60m in Brunei
in recent surveys: from disturbed dipterocarp forest at Labi; from dry heath
forest at Telisai. A further specimen was taken in dipterocarp forest at 170m
near the Danum Valley Field Centre.
