Type species: velata Walker.
The second segments of the palps do not touch each other so the base of
the tongue remains visible; these segments are not so narrow as in the
next genus, having a large apical tuft on the inner side, and a much
smaller naked area (Rothschild & Jordan, 1903).
The forewing facies is less linear, more dotted and mottled.
The genus is diverse in the Oriental tropics and subtropics (D'Abrera,
1986: 200).
