17-19 mm. The facies is as illustrated, the blue-suffused blackish
markings on the pale reddish brown forewing being distinctive. The hindwing
costal area is darker than the rest of the wing rather than paler, the subapical
bars rather diffuse, blurred. In the male genitalia the uncus is spatulate as in
cinerascens but the valves are apically broader and distinctively angled
on the dorsal margin, with a long flange associated; the aedeagus is relatively
shorter than in other species; the saccus is longer than the vinculum rather
than shorter.
