Micromorphe
chalcostoma Collenette
comb. n.
Euproctis chalcostoma Collenette,
1932, Novit. zool., 38: 79.
Euproctis chalcostoma Collenette;
Holloway, 1976: 46.
Diagnosis. The four species in this genus divide into pairs: those without as
distinct from those with a subapical black spot on the forewing. The first two
species comprise the first pair, lacking the spot: they also show much less
sexual dimorphism in the darkness of the shading of the wings. The dark area of
the wings of chalcostoma are pale grey, whereas they are dark grey-brown
in hemibathoides Strand. Genitalia features of all four species are very
similar.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is uncommon, but has been taken over a
range of altitudes from the lowlands up to 1930m, mostly in forested localities.
