Diagnosis. The submarginal black markings on the forewing are diagnostic, though
weaker on the female, tending to merge with the grey. The male and female
genitalia are as in munda.
Taxonomic note. The original description included both sexes, but the female was
redescribed as epinephela.
Geographical range. Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference. This is a rare lowland forest species, the highest
record of five being from 170m.
Biology. The species has been reared from a 'very urticaceous larva' on Melastoma
malabathrica (Melastomataceae) in Peninsular Malaysia by H.S. Barlow.
