Nygmia baueri Schintlmeister
comb. n.
Euproctis
baueri Schintlmeister,
1994: 132.
Euproctis
atereta Collenette
sensu Holloway, 1976: 47.
Diagnosis. This species is larger than atereta but has similar facies. It
can be distinguished by the male genitalia, where both dorsal and ventral
processes of the valves are acute, the dorsal part longer than the ventral one.
Taxonomic notes. The process of the valves are slightly more elongated and acute than in
typical material from Peninsular Malaysia. Dissection of the holotype of baueri
indicates that the genitalia figures for this species and mignon are
transposed in Schintlmeister (1994).
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The only Bornean locality was in montane forest of
great stature, since cleared for agriculture and leisure developments.
