Bembina albinotata (Peninsular Malaysia) |
Bembina albinotata |
Diagnosis. The male is like a small, pallid Nygmia atrisignata (See
Nygmia atrisignata Swinhoe comb. n.),
a marbled white and buff. The female (not illustrated) is larger and more
‘bleached out’ in facies.
Taxonomic note. The male abdomen has similar features to that of isabellina, but
the valves lack a prominent ventral spine, being more as in typical Bembina. The
genitalia and facies are similar to those of the N. Indian B. atripuncta Hampson
comb. n.
Geographical range. Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is infrequent but found in most lowland
forest types.
