Nyctemera
pagenstecheri Pagenstecher
Nyctemera pagenstecheri Pagenstecher,
1898, Jb. nassau. Ver. Naturk. 51: 199.
Diagnosis. The species resembles N. baulus but has the forewing postmedial
band more parallel-sided, unbroken by brown along the veins. At the hindwing
tornus the brown border is wider on the underside than on the upperside and can
thus be seen faintly through the white zone.
Taxonomic notes. The type has not been examined but the BMNH series matches well the
illustration in Seitz, Gross-Schmett. Erde, 10.
Geographical range. Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores, Pulo Laut.
Habitat preference. There is a single female from Pulo Laut in the BMNH
attributed to this species. The overall distribution suggests this may be a
species of the seasonal tropics and unlikely to occur further north in Borneo.
