Amata trifascia Holloway comb. n.

Callitomis trifascia
Holloway, 1976: 1

Callitomis pseudextensa Rothschild sensu Holloway, 1976: 1.

Amata trifascia
(paratype)

Amata trifascia

Diagnosis.
Compared to pseudextensa the male has much broader wing margins, restricting the transparent areas as illustrated. The female has narrower borders, more extensive transparent areas such that it resembles pseudextensa. It can be distinguished by whitish scales on the forewing CuA2 between the transparent patches as in the male and the more regular dark borders to both wings. The abdomen has three narrow pale yellow rings distally.

Taxonomic notes. The species is a typical Amata as indicated by the male genitalia. The female was misidentified as pseudextensa by Holloway (1976).

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. All specimens were taken between 1620m and 1760m on G. Kinabalu between Park HQ and the Power Station.
