Diagnosis. This
species could be confused with trifascia but has browner hindwings, a
more angled basal edge to the dorsal component of the postmedial
‘hour-glass’, and a more linear, unbroken submarginal.
Taxonomic note. The
taxon trifasciata Moore (praeocc.), replaced by trifasciella Strand,
represents a good species from Sri Lanka. It had been placed as a synonym of bipunctata
by Hampson (1900).
Geographical range. Sumatra,
Borneo
Habitat preference. The
species has been taken infrequently in a wide range of lowland forest types,
including heath forest and regenerating alluvial forest. It has not been
recorded at altitudes above 300m.
