Barsine flavodiscalis Talbot
comb. n.
Miltochrista flavodiscalis Talbot, 1926, Sarawak
Mus. J., 3(2): 138.
Miltochrista flavodiscalis Talbot;
Holloway, 1976: 3.
Diagnosis. The species could be
confused with females of crustata, but it has a diagnostic yellow patch
discally on the forewing. The hindwing lacks a dark grey border but is paler
along the costa except over the marginal third.
Taxonomic note. The
valves are modified from the typical Barsine type, but angular processes
subbasally on the costa and centrally on the sacculus may be homologous with the
more typical processes in that position. The aedeagus vesica has a field of
short, stout spines.
Geographical range. Borneo,
Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference. This
is a species of montane forest, recorded from 1050m to 1930m on G. Kinabalu, G.
Mulu, Bukit Retak and G. Murud.
