Callidula kobesi sp. n.

Callidula kobesi (paratype)

15-16mm. The facies is very similar to that of sakuni except the forewing orange band is narrower and slightly curved, coming closer to the tornus posteriorly. The underside resembles more that of sumatrensis, except the discal marks of the forewing are set more obliquely next to the inner margin of the oblique bars that is more clearly delineated finely in black: the discal mark forms the apex of a more strongly orange triangle in which striae are reduced. The underside is generally less striate, clearer. In the male genitalia the valve is ovate, lacking the distal pocket and the longitudinal division that characterise the other two species. The aedeagus and vesica are longer, with a much smaller group of cornuti in the latter.

Holotype . NORD BORNEO: Mont Kina Balu, 5.8.1903 (John Waterstradt), BM misc. families slide 26.

Paratypes: 5 as holotype.

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. All material is without altitude data, but probably from the lower slopes of G. Kinabalu.
