Ausaris splendens Warren, 1897, Novit. zool., 4: 195.

Callidrepana splendens

Diagnosis.
The ground colour is pale grey with the postmedial fasciae paler, though edged on each side narrowly darker. The forewing postmedial is slightly sinuous, and the discal spot, dark brown, is bilobed, connected to the costa by an oblique bar of the same colour. The curvature of the forewing costa is strongest at one quarter from the base. Sexual dimorphism is slight, the females being slightly larger.

Taxonomic notes. Sundanian specimens are somewhat greyer than Sulawesi ones, and there are minor genitalic differences.

Geographical range. Sulawesi, Sula Is., Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra (ZSM).

Habitat preference. The species is rare, all four specimens in recent surveys having been taken in lowland forest in Brunei including swamp forest.
