Callidrepana
splendens Warren
Ausaris splendens Warren, 1897, Novit. zool., 4: 195.
Diagnosis. The ground colour is pale grey with the postmedial fasciae paler, though
edged on each side narrowly darker. The forewing postmedial is slightly sinuous,
and the discal spot, dark brown, is bilobed, connected to the costa by an
oblique bar of the same colour. The curvature of the forewing costa is strongest
at one quarter from the base. Sexual dimorphism is slight, the females being
slightly larger.
Taxonomic notes. Sundanian specimens are somewhat greyer than Sulawesi ones, and there
are minor genitalic differences.
Geographical range. Sulawesi, Sula Is., Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia,
Sumatra (ZSM).
Habitat preference. The species is rare, all four specimens in recent
surveys having been taken in lowland forest in Brunei including swamp forest.
