Dooabia
puncticostata Prout
Dooabia puncticostata Prout 1923, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (9), 11: 305.
Dooabia puncticostata quantula Prout, 1931, Novit. zool. 37: 5.
Dooabia puncticosta [sic] Prout; Holloway, 1976: 60.
Diagnosis.
This is a
darker green, more robust species than the first two with a darker
border to both
wings and broader grey-brown patches at the forewing
tornus and hindwing costal angle. There is no spot interior to the central angle
of the forewing margin.
Taxonomic
notes. Yazaki
(1986) described two species closely related to puncticostata: D. owadai Yazaki
(Philippines); D. ambigua Yazaki (Sulawesi). D. myopa Prout stat.
n. (Sumatra) has distinct male abdominal features and is therefore, as surmised
by Yazaki (in litt.), a good species rather than a subspecies of puncticostata
as originally described.
Geographical
range. Sundaland.
Habitat
preference. Most
of the specimens
have been taken in
lowland forest, but one was recorded at 1000m on G. Mulu and a female was
taken at 2110m on G. Kinabalu.
