Hemithea
antigrapha Prout
Hemithea antigrapha Prout,
1917, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (8), 20: 122.
Diagnosis. The facies is similar to that of insularia but the genitalia
are more as in Hemithea
marina Butler with the most dorsal process
on the valve rhomboidal. In marina this process is deeper, the saccular
one more robust and bulbous: the socii in marina are thicker. The marina
female has the ostium broader, more setose, with a semicircular, scobinate
lamella antevaginalis.
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia (FRIM colln), Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is rare, four specimens having been taken during the
Mulu survey from: lowland alluvial forest; forest on limestone at 250m; kerangas
forest at 150m on a river terrace; lower montane forest at 1000m.
