Diagnosis. See the generic description. The size,
acute forewing apex and hindwing angle, and strong red lining to the wing
margins are diagnostic.
Geographical range. Widespread in Indo-Australian tropics
east to Bismarck Is. and north to Japan.
Habitat preference. The four specimens taken in recent
surveys have been from lowland forest and secondary forest with coastal
vegetation. In Sulawesi, greater frequency in disturbed, rather open habitats
has been noted.
Biology. The larva has been recorded on rice in
Java (unpublished IIE records).
