Taxa misplaced in
Oenochrominae that are possibly Ennominae
Two genera, Heteralex
Warren and Naxa Walker, have traditionally been referred to the
Oenochrominae (e.g. Prout, 1910) but do not fall into any of the groupings
discussed in the early part of this work. Both have features that suggest a
relationship with the Ennominae, despite having a strong tubular vein M2 in the
hindwing: the Ennominae are primarily defined on the absence of this vein
(Holloway, 1993[4]). The ennomine-like features of each are described in the
following sections: the genus Naxa is tentatively placed in the tribe
Orthostixini.
