Diagnosis. Males are distinguished by an extensive area of raised scales on the
forewing, and a large, pale yellow discal spot on the hindwing: other uniform
species of a similar uniform pale dull red have the discal spot white or tinged
black.
Taxonomic notes. The bursa copulatrix is strongly spined, and the species may be most
closely allied to the dimerites group.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. In its type locality, G. Kinabalu, the species has
been recorded over an altitude range of 1200-2600m, but was commonest at 1930m.
It has also been recorded from upper montane forest on G. Mulu at 1790m.
