Perixera decretarioides sp.
n.
10mm. This and the next two species are closely
related. The ground colour is pinkish straw, fasciated with brownish grey, the
post- and antemedials containing the usual black streaks on the veins. All three
have grey patches submarginally and costally and at M2 on both wings, though
these are faint in P. javensis Warren, a generally more uniform species.
The main diagnostic features are in the male genitalia as illustrated. The group
has coremata in the fourth sternite in the male, and the aedeagus is convolute
in some. The valve costa is very well developed, produced. The uncus in all
three is vestigial, weakly and broadly bilobed. The valves are much broader in
the new species, spoonlike at the apex. The uncus is distinctly rugose. The
aedeagus is shorter than in decretaria Walker. Himalayan specimens are
larger, more strongly marked; those from Hong Kong are similar and additionally
have the spoonlike apex of the valve narrower.
Holotype Dutch West BORNEO, 85 miles above Pontianak (Simons
& Meligan) (Sanggan) ex Janson, April 1903, BM geometrid slide 18244.
Other material. A further male from the type locality and a
male and female from Bidi, Sarawak, probably also belong to this species.
Geographical range. Borneo,
N.E. Himalaya, Hong Kong.
