Diagnosis. The largest species in the genus, layanga has the male hindwing
dorsum strongly scrolled upwards, enclosing raised straw-coloured scales and
delineated longitudinally with dark brown. The forewing is heavily fasciated and
obscured with dark brown suffused rufous. There is a bluish grey zone
submarginally from the postmedial, at one third from the costa, and there is a
fine whitish crenulate submarginal line. The female has two diffuse fasciae on
the hindwing towards the margin, reflexed subdorsally.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. S. layanga is only known from G. Kinabalu
where it occurs commonly at 2600m, with a few specimens taken at 2110m.
