Diagnosis. The smallest Bornean species, praeumbrata shows
greater sexual dimorphism. The male is a more uniform grey colour, less
speckled, with an ochreous patch medially on the forewing costa. The female is
extensively speckled ochreous except for the apex of the forewing.
Taxonomic notes. Moesta is based on males, praeumbrata on females of
the same species. A. lutulenta West comb. n. (Palawan, Mindanao) is
closely related, if not conspecific.
Geographical range. Sundaland.
Habitat preference. During the Mulu survey one specimen was taken at 200m
in hill dipterocarp forest on G. Mulu, but four were recorded in forest at low
elevations on the limestone G. Api. In Brunei a female was taken in hill
dipterocarp forest at 300m (Ulu Temburong) and another at 1475m on Bukit Retak.
