Taxonomic notes. Sundanian material has the postmedial arc of pale yellow patches of the
forewing much weaker than in the typical race or absent; the male genitalia are
relatively larger, the saccus longer, and the valve with a subbasal scobinate
fold. The name simplicior Butler (= media Prout) is applicable to
this Sundanian subspecies, and is based on Bornean material. A specimen from
Mindanao (Philippines) resembles the typical race.
Geographical range. India, Burma, Indochina, Mindanao; Sundaland.
Habitat preference. The species flies in the lowlands, a single male
being taken by a river in alluvial forest near the Melinau Gorge during the Mulu
survey.
