SUBFAMILY AEDIINAE

Aedia maiae sp. n. (Plate 2, Fig 60)

GG 13-14mm. The species resembles perdicipennis, except the forewings are a more golden brown in tone, and the hindwing border is a more medium brown. The forewing antemedial is transverse rather than oblique, and the postmedial is sigmoid, with a richer brown shade between it and the reniform stigma. There is a stronger dark brown fleck at the margin in the position of the distal extension of the postmedial angle in perdicipennis. The male genitalia have the valves more elongate and gently tapering distally than in perdicipennis, and there is a prominent hair pencil associated with the more clearly defined angle at the centre of the costa. The setal bases on the valve coremata are grouped into irregular arcs around the tube rather than being evenly dispersed. The aedeagus has a distinctly hooked apical spine rather than this being straight or slightly curved. The vesica is broader, with the two clusters of spines more widely separated.
