Panilla
poliochroa Hampson
Panilla
poliochroa Hampson, 1914, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (8),
13: 209.
Diagnosis.
This is a smaller, paler, more speckled species than homospila,
but with similar markings, though the hindwing postmedial is somewhat obscure.
Taxonomic
note. The male genitalia are slender, broader, more robust than is
typical for Panilla, particularly the valves which have spined processes
near the base of the costa and sacculus as well as simple spines near the apex
of each. There are also differences in the eighth segment of the abdomen, the
tergite being broader and the sternite deeper, though of the boletobiine type.
Geographical
range. Borneo, Philippines, Taiwan.
Habitat
preference. The holotype was taken in the vicinity of G. Marapok in
Sarawak. There are two further specimens from 85 miles above (upstream from?)
Pontianak in Kalimantan, and two specimens from Sandakan on the coast of Sabah.
This is probably a lowland species.
