Didiguides
Kobes
Type
species: hutapadanga
Kobes (= semifervens
Walker, syn. n.), Sumatra.
The facies is similar to that of
Didigua
species, except the forewing reniform is bipunctate, and the postmedial
circumnavigates it somewhat, so is less transverse. However, this association
with the Careini is superficial, as the male hindleg is unmodified and tymbal
organs are lacking. The male antennae are ciliate which excludes association
with the Gelastocera
group.
The male genitalia show several unusual features. The uncus is vestigial, its
place taken by a dorsal production of the tegumen around the anal tube. The
lateral parts of the tegumen and all of the vinculum and saccus are narrow
relative to those of the previous four genera. The valve is deeply divided into
two lobes, each with a cluster of long, basally directed setae, those of the
larger, dorsal lobe more robust. The aedeagus vesica is small, rather narrow,
but with a mass of deciduous, slender, stiletto-like spines that can be found in
the bursa of mated females (Fig 299).
The female has a moderate, narrow ductus. At its junction with the corpus bursae
there arises a balloon-like appendix bursae that includes the ductus seminalis.
The corpus bursae is ovate, with a plate of sclerotisation near the junction
with the ductus; it has fine scobination throughout, more robust in a
longitudinal groove that broadens at its distal end.
