Arctornis niphobola
Collenette
comb. n.
Leucoma
niphobola Collenette,
1932, Novit. zool., 38: 55.
Diagnosis. The wings are rounded, translucent, with grey in the spaces at the
distal margins of both wings. There are denser zones of scales in distinct
patches: a postmedial row and, particularly conspicuous, a cluster over the
distal end of the hindwing cell. There is a very broad brown band on the frons
between the antennae. The terminal segment of the palps is dark-tipped, and
slightly darkened also dorsally and around the base.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra (Schintlmeister, 1994),
Borneo.
Habitat preference. Only two specimens have been taken in recent surveys:
a male from hill dipterocarp forest at 150m on G. Mulu; a female from 900m in
lower montane forest on the limestone G. Api.
