10-11mm. The facies of this species is very similar to that of Orvasca
aurantiaca Hampson comb. n. (N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia
(slide 2585)), but the genitalia are typical of Somena: the
aedeagus apex is more expanded and the apical spur stronger than in similis. The
same facies type, with black-bordered yellow hindwings, and forewings trisected
at the tornal angle into black apical and yellow basal halves, is seen also in Bembina
pseudaurantiaca sp. n.. In aurantiacoides, the
underside resembles the upperside, though with the black areas browner, The hindwing border is
narrower in aurantiaca and the boundary between black and yellow on the
forewing less oblique, but these areas are also similarly black on the
underside.
