Diagnosis. Males could be confused with Lymantria capnodes (see
Lymantria Capnodes
Collenette), but are a distinctly greener brown on the forewings, paler in a patch
just distal to the discal lunule. The antennae are relatively larger. The female
is illustrated by Schintlmeister (1994: plate 3: 21). It has a distinct,
irregular whitish submarginal and a paler medial zone on an otherwise dark brown
forewing.
Geographical range. Java,
Sumatra, Borneo; Bhutan (ssp. melanochlora).
Habitat preference. This
is a montane species, recorded from G. Kinabalu (1050-1660m), G. Mulu (1000m)
and G. Api (1200-1500m).
Biology. A Javan female in BMNH is labelled as reared from Dendrobium
(Orchidaceae).
