Amata vicarians api (paratype)

14-15mm, smaller than the typical race. The wings
are black with white transparent patches that are much smaller, separated more
widely by black; the patch anterior to forewing vein CuA2 is absent, the
subapical one is very narrow, and the most distal one posterior to CuA2 is
short, triangular rather than a quadrilateral. The transparent area of the
hindwing is divided centrally. The abdomen has a pale ring two-thirds distally.
The male genitalia are as in the typical race.
