Paramaxates
posterecta Holloway
Paramaxates posterecta Holloway,
1976: 62.
Diagnosis. This species is primarily distinguished from the next two by the
straight, rather than obtusely excavate, interior edge to the dark submarginal
band of the hindwing, a feature seen particularly clearly on the underside. This
continues as a marginal zone over the posterior half of the forewing. Holloway
(1976) noted further differences. The male genitalia are also diagnostic.
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Taiwan, Burma, Borneo, Sumatra, Java.
Habitat preference. Most records are from upper montane forest (1930m on G. Kinabalu,
1618m on Bukit Retak), but one specimen was taken at 300m in hill dipterocarp
forest of Ulu Temburong, Brunei.
