Diagnosis. The combination of oblique postmedial and distal subdorsal black disc
are on the forewing diagnostic.
Taxonomic notes. Bornean specimens are characterised by more irregular and prominent
striation of the ground colour, and a stronger, darker, anteriorly more broken
forewing postmedial than in those from the Asian mainland.
Geographical range. Indian Subregion, Burma, Indochina; Borneo (ssp. rudis).
Habitat preference. The species is rare, taken mainly in lower and upper
montane forest zones (G. Mulu, G. Api, Bukit Retak, G. Kinabalu) but there is
one specimen from Samarinda in N.E. Kalimantan.
